Is this the future of content production on the Internet?
This could become a harsh reality for many ‘prosumers’ due to the strict copyright laws being implemented by legacy media distributors. Basic copyright lasts the duration of the author’s life plus 70 years after his or her death. Companies are going to drastic measures to protect their “property” to ensure that they remain in control of an industry that they have monopolized for so long.
Ultimately, these laws could shut down creativity on the Internet and the global village that now stands could revert to the “read-only” structure that so many amateur creators fear.
